Systema Book Update

Camouflaged Work in Progress in Brazil

Well over a 100 people have paid in advance for my soon to be released book Systema : The Russian Martial System and these kind souls have quietly waited for news of when they will finally be receiving their signed advance copy. This post if first of all a way to thank them for their patience, which has been truly humbling. I have received a grand total of only 6 very polite e-mails asking for further information from these patient souls. In contrast, I have received more than three dozen e-mails (38 if I counted correctly), of general support through this difficult time from the very same group. To every single one of you advance buyers, I want to express a truly heartfelt THANK YOU! Read more »

The sexy outfit of mismatched gi trousers and top, along with the green belt was very kindly lent to me by Christophoros. Read more »

Brazilian JuJitsu vs. Systema

Thursday, after meeting with the wedding photographer, I went to try out my first class of BJJ. The guys were all great and the instructor was a really nice man with obvious talent and experience.

The class started with some technique work. It has been so long for me since I drilled a specific “technique” that the experience was instantly unrealistic for me. Probably until this day I have never really appreciated just how limited technique based training in this fashion is.

Brazil – Paradise, Nazi Villas, and Kill Bill Wedding

Yes, that is a sex shop, and next to a restaurant. Yes it is right in the middle of the jungle, along some random highway through the Eastern side of Brazil. And no, there was no little village off to the side. Those two buildings was pretty much it for quite a few kilometres in either direction. Welcome to Brazil. Read more »
