The Free State of Jones

I don’t often give film reviews but this one was particularly interesting and funnily enough, very relevant to today’s situation. The film is a generic adaptation of the reality (as far as they can be pieced together) of the life of one Newton Knight. In reality, his life is even more convoluted and difficult than what is portrayed in the film and much like Wyatt Earp, he was both more courageous as well as a worse human being than is shown in the film. Reality, as many people are now finding out, is always more interesting and vary-coloured than fiction.

This film has many levels of interesting and I wanted to blog on it precisely to cover the various aspects of it. And yes, the “egalité” and “liberté” at the bottom of that poster is French “enlightenment” nonsense, for neither exists in the world, but sometimes, a modicum of Justice can be achieved.

On Aspergers

This is a slightly longer video and with what seems to be longish “asides” relating to human perception, systema training, the ability to spot deception and so on, but they are all linked topics and I hope help make this a bit more interesting and easier to understand.

Aspergers, and to some extent the whole autism spectrum disorders, has, in my opinion, been quite misunderstood by most professionals. As usual, I am not a doctor, this is the internet, etc, however, as explained in the video, I believe a fundamental lack with regard to understanding how Aspergers works and how in certain cases it can actually be a benefit, as it can allow for a more objective, logical view of issues with emotions somewhat removed from the observation to a degree most humans are less capable of, so can result in fundamentally better results when trying to discover the truth of a topic, be it scientific, logical, mathematical, or whatever.

Though there seems to be other factors at play too, not least of which apparently is the presence of Neanderthal DNA, along with, obviously, IQ.

A couple of links to somewhat useful articles are added below.

The Roosh Event in London

Well, first of all, let me say I enjoyed Roosh. I was pleasantly surprised. Now, in order to understand why that is a seriously powerful endorsement, you need to know that in general my opinion of PUAs is somewhere below contempt. I have written on this before, and I will now go on a little detour to explain what I think is wrong with PUAs in general. If you don’t care, feel free to skip to the next bolded heading further down.

Hot Crazy Matrix

So my brother sent me a video.

Because I was married to a Hairdresser. And then a Redhead.
And we’re sensitive and caring like that in my family.

Also, knowing my luck, there’s a redheaded stripper called Tiffany in my future and he wanted to warn me.

Changes

As the Russian hackers and others devoted to this site have noticed, it has been rather dormant for some time. To say the last two years have been rough would be like saying that World War Two was a slight disagreement. Those who know why know, those who don’t don’t.

The poem IF, by Rudyard Kipling, has been a favourite of mine since I first read it as a teenager, and it pretty much describes my sense of things. Along with the parts of the samurai poem I know by heart, they have, at difficult times, been a source of some comfort. This time they fell far short. So much so I didn’t even think of them. And instead, something else happened. After a week of no sleep, I went to see a film.

I’m Baaaack….sort of…and some MASSIVE news.

Well, it has most definitely been a busy time, but…lots of new things coming later this year. A relaunch of the Overlords of Mars series will happen (with any luck) before Xmas of this year, as well as a general revamp of this site. The focus of it will shift to something that is more in tune with a “single theme” as the vast unwashed masses seem to prefer.

But fear not, intrepid adventurer, this site will continue to have all the eclectic, in-depth information it has now, and hopefully lots more, along with my general musings and random thoughts, however…

As you may have noticed if you are/were a regular reader of this blog as well as my previous experimental one, I have many and varied interests, and it is difficult for a new visitor to grasp what the hell this is all about. Well…it was Redhead Girl who actually said it best to me: Everything I do is about Exploration. And indeed that is true. Sometimes I explore the mind, sometimes the body, and sometimes the world around me, but in reality, it is indeed always about exploration.

So…in time I will revamp the site a bit and re-organise it a bit and guess what…yes…we are going to become an exploration club. That is, people like yourselves, who may be interested in the same weird things I am, will be able to contribute if you wish.

Welcome my little girl. Born today 11.11.11 and despite the worst efforts of several morons, healthy, smart and already grabbing my finger and only suffering face bruising from the foreceps. Redhead girl is the bravest person I know and basically whatever flaws the females of the human species may have in
regards to logic or anything else, they definitely are the better of the two. Nothing a man might ever do can even begin to compare. Going to sleep for a bit before I return to my girls.

Multiverse Reality

I have been reading rather thick tomes of physics since a young age. I suppose if you added them all up they would probably come close to the number of books on the subject that someone that wanted to get a degree in the subject might digest. In fact I suspect I have read enough of these to come closer to a Master’s, but that’s sort of beside the point, because I doubt the books I picked would form part of any specific curriculum. The point is that all that physics has served me well in many other spheres of life. For one, it fit very well with my actual choice of subject in tertiary education, which was civil engineering, but perhaps less obviously, it has served me well in practically every job I have ever done.

A Busy Week

Well, I missed one post. The beginning of the end you say, nay readers, I have just had a massively busy week. The image above represents what I would prefer busy to look like. I did a seminar of Systema in Italy which was well received and then I have spent more time in government offices than I ever care to so as to sort out various official papers to do with my wedding, passport renewal for Readhead Girl with her new name and various other odds and ends. None of which is very exciting either really. The systema week-end was the highlight as it also involved a little beach time and a swim in warm waters. We may also have some video from it that was not completely bad, but it’s all in Italian, so we’ll see if I got anything good on it.

Other than that, it’s back to a post every Monday morning from now on. As for the results of your survey from a few days ago (see previous post) it’s quite interesting. The two or three things we can tentaively say based on your answers are:

1. People do not want to be dishonest in general. Cheating on the significant other is obviously done out of necessity and some need not being fulfilled by the relationship.

2. Possibly surprising, if one’s partner does not object to your sleeping around but they will not do it themselves, most people seem to think this would not per se result in their sleeping around any more or less, again, reinforcing the idea that most people would prefer to be honest about what they really want.

3. The majority of people would prefer to have sex with others too or at least have that option open to them at some point (no surprises there) but ideally they would want to do so without feeling bad about it it would seem. Also, if global divorce and adultery statistics are anything to go by, a sizeable portion of you people are deluding yourselves that you “would never do such a thing”. About 15-20% or so more people (statistically) would actually fall in the “at some point I would/might/want to” than actually answered in any one of those combinations. Also, if everyone could just be honest without anyone making them feel bad about it, it seems everyone would be doing everyone. Welcome to the modern Roman Orgy. Once you take into account the self-delusion portion it seems only about 10% of people actually would seem to want purely monogamous relationships. This assumes the best possible numbers (on average) for all the answers given when compared to other global surveys on adultery.

In other words, the only thing we can say with some degree of certainty by the responses we have so far is that the human ability to self-deceive is alive and well. More importantly though, so is the fear of being judged for our thoughts/wishes and desires. Keep your responses coming and don’t be shy to invite friends to take part. The more people answer the questions over time, the better the final picture will be as a result of larger numbers being able to give a possibly better idea of the main views.

I am toying with the idea of having a fun or sexy survey every week, but we will see how things go. I also realised from this survey that it’s important to consider not just what questions to ask, but how to ask them and how to interpret them in relation to other answers. keep in mind all your replies are completely anonymous, i have no way of knowing who answered what (though some of you e-mailed me to tell me….you exhibitionists you!)

Have a great week.

The How Open Are You? Survey

Here you are readers, a little late, but I have finally put together this little survey for you. Please take it so I can collate some spurious answers about random people’s sex lives. I really do have a project in the works and although the results of this survey will not be considered as being particularly meaningful or accurate, if I get enough replies I will publish them in print at some future date.

All answers will be completely anonymous, I really can’t see who you are, so please answer truthfully. Obviously this is not very scientific because there are no real controls, but people lie in real life too, and anyway hopefully this will be a bit of fun for you too.

I decided to call it the “How Open Are You Survey” because “Slut test” apparently has negative connotations for some people. Go figure. Slut is one of my favourite words.
